Grant Applications are welcome for 2011: Application closing date 28.05.11

For Scholarship Applications: <$1501

  1. All applications must adopt the format outlined for Scholarship applications outlined in the document "ARI -Scholarship application.doc"
  2. All parts of the application must be completed.
  3. Scholarship applicants must be undertaking Projects where a genuine collaboration with a staff member of the Sydney Adventist Hospital or Avondale College is involved.
  4. There will be 1 date per year for submission of applications. The closing date is May 28.
  5. At the June meeting, projects will be considered by the Research Advisory Committee. Applicants recommended for funding according to merit will be invited for interview by the ARI Executive.
  6.  Applicants will be advised of the success of the application within 14 days of the interview.
  7. Projects that will involve the patients and facilities of Sydney Adventist Hospital (SAH) must have been approval from the SAH Human Ethics Committee before funds will be released.
  8. Where patients of Sydney Adventist Hospital (and other hospitals) are to be involved, a copy of the proposed patient information sheet and consent form must be included within the application.
  9. An electronic copy of the application should be submitted to: The Executive Officer, rossg@sah.org.au
  10. Submission of an application implies that the applicant authorises The Australasian Research Institute to make any inquiries it considers necessary in relation to the proposed research project.
  11. The decisions of The Australasian Research Institute are final.
  12. The Australasian Research Institute must be advised, in writing, of any proposed amendments to an approved project.

For Small Grant Application: <$5001

  1. All applications must adopt the format outlined for small grant applications outlined in the document "ARI -Small Grant application.doc"
  2. All parts of the application must be completed.
  3. Projects will be considered only if the work is being undertaken by or in collaboration with staff of the Sydney Adventist Hospital or Avondale College.
  4. Hospital or Avondale researchers should have a genuine commitment to the project and play an active role in its execution. Collaboration with outside bodies is encouraged.
  5. Projects from novice researchers or visiting Fellows or Specialists to the hospital is encouraged. Assistance with writing protocols will be provided to researchers in this category. (Contact Dr Ross Grant ARI Executive Officer, in the first instance).
  6. There will be one date per year for submission of full applications. The closing date is May 28. At the June meeting, projects will be considered by the Research Advisory Committee. Projects recommended for funding will then be ranked according to merit. This list will be submitted to the ARI management committee who will determine the cut-off in relation to the available funds. Commencement of funding for new projects will be within 3 months of each funding round each year.
  7. The Institute will consider applications for projects of up to a maximum of $5000 only. These will generally include developmental studies (eg. small pilot studies or tests of intervention therapies and measurement instruments) that have yet to be fully developed.
  8. Projects that will involve the patients and facilities of Sydney Adventist Hospital (SAH) must have been approval from the SAH Human Ethics Committee before funds will be released.
